How ready is your QMS for ISO 9001:2026?

Answer 32 plain-English questions about the new, strengthened and clarified requirements in ISO 9001:2026. Get a transition-readiness score and a focused list of areas to review.

This tool is for organisations already working to ISO 9001:2015, including Amendment 1:2024. It does not repeat every existing ISO 9001 requirement and it does not replace a full audit. It asks only about what has changed, which is what a transition actually costs you: the clauses where an existing system that passed last year may no longer be enough.

The questions are grouped into 8 topics that follow the changes: interested-party requirements; leadership, quality culture and ethical behaviour; risks and opportunities; planning and reviewing changes; organisational knowledge; customer communication, design and operational controls; internal audit and performance evaluation; and continual improvement. Each question names the clause it comes from and what changed in it. Answer Yes, Partly, No or Not sure, based on how things are today rather than how you plan them to be. Not sure counts the same as No in the score, but your result lists it separately as something to verify, so an honest “I would have to check” never gets recorded as a nonconformity you do not have.

Your result gives an overall score and a score for every topic, so you can see where the work is. Each topic counts equally, which keeps the five change-planning questions from outweighing the four about leadership. Below that you get everything you answered No or Partly, restated as an action, and a separate 5-point checklist for running the transition itself: owners and dates, document review, briefing people, checking implementation, and agreeing arrangements with your certification body. That checklist is deliberately kept out of the score, because it is project management rather than an ISO requirement.

For the wider picture, our ISO 9001 gap analysis tool scores your whole quality management system clause by clause, and our ISO 9001:2026 guides cover how to plan a transition and what to ask your certification body.

Questions about the transition readiness check

Who is this tool for?

Organisations already working to ISO 9001:2015, including Amendment 1:2024. It assumes you have a quality management system and asks only about what the 2026 edition adds, strengthens or clarifies. If you are starting from nothing, the gap analysis tool is the better place to begin, because it covers the whole standard rather than the differences.

How long does it take?

About ten minutes. There are 32 scored questions grouped into 8 topics, plus 5 questions about how you are running the transition itself. Your progress is saved on your device as you go, so you can close the page and come back later.

How is the score worked out?

Yes scores 2, Partly scores 1, and No scores 0, out of 2 for each question. Not sure and unanswered questions also score 0, but they are reported separately as things to verify rather than as confirmed gaps, because you have not said they are missing. Questions you mark Not applicable drop out of the calculation entirely. Each of the topics then counts equally towards the overall score, so the five change-planning questions cannot outweigh the four leadership ones.

Does a high score mean I will pass my transition audit?

No. The score reflects your answers, not verified conformity. It covers the changed requirements only, so it does not tell you whether the rest of your quality management system still meets the standard, and it cannot check the evidence behind any of your answers. Use it to decide where to look and what to plan, not as a substitute for an audit.

When do I have to transition?

Ask your certification body. Transition timing and audit arrangements are set by them, not by the standard's publication date, and they differ between schemes and contracts. That is why agreeing your arrangements with them is one of the questions in the transition action plan rather than an assumption built into this tool.

Are my answers stored or sent anywhere?

No. The assessment and the scoring run entirely in your browser. Your answers are saved only on your own device, in your browser's local storage, so a refresh doesn't lose your progress, and you can clear them with Start again. They're never sent to us or to anyone else. If you choose to share your result, the answers travel inside the link you share, in the part of the web address that browsers never send to a server.

Do I need to give my email address to see the result?

No. You see your full scored result, topic by topic, as soon as you finish, with no email, account or signup. There's an optional PDF transition plan if you want one, and only that asks for an email address.
